Cullercoats U9s Match Report

Hi all,
Todays game against Seaton Burn was a well deserved win.
Cllercoats were slow to start and still asleep when Seaton Burn scored first, however Cullercoats eventually woke up and equalised with a goal from Liam O'Neil befor halftime.
The second half started better for the black and whites when they took the lead with a great taken goal from Brendan Sheriff, then Burn Sde equalised agianst the run of play.
Cullercoats then took the game by the scruff of the neck and scored two more goals with O'Neil and Sheriff scorng their braces. Cullercoats could and should have scored more exceprt for good defending and goalkeeping. Seaton Burn made the game a little tense with a late rally with some excellent saves from Sam Worthington.
Cullercoats Men of the match Sam Worthington and Phil Dunning.
Cheers
Martin

Cullercoats U8s 1 – 0 KYPC Galaxy (10/4/10)
The Under 8s put in an excellent display against hosts, KYPC Galaxy, in a very close encounter. Benjamin Hall (midfield) scored the winning goal and the game saw the return of Daniel Henderson (keeper), who marked his return with a clean sheet.
Cullercoats U8s 0 – 4 Tynemouth Yellows (15/4/10)
The Under 8s came up against a much improved Tynemouth Yellows team, who were strong and full of running throughout the game. Tynemouth scored two goals in each half, with some excellent strikes. The Under 8s were not at their best on the night. After suffering injury, Daniel Henderson (keeper) was replaced by Connor Sherriff in goal and Connor went on to pick up the ‘man of the match’ award for his efforts in helping out the team.
Cullercoats U8s 1 – 1 Longbenton (17/4/10)
The Under 8s and Longbenton played well in very difficult windy conditions, which had a big effect on the game. Longbenton played with the wind in the first half and took a 1-0 lead. The Under 8s fought back after the break and scored a good equaliser through Benjamin Hall (midfield).
Cullercoats U8s 1 – 0 Burradon (19/4/10)
The Under 8s were without a couple of players who went down with illness, so the remainder of the squad were called into action in an action-packed match which was competitive and very entertaining. Burradon started the stronger team and had early territorial advantage, but the Under 8s were in excellent form at the back with Daniel Henderson (keeper), Jack Stronach and Ryan Norris (defence) ensured that there were no clear cut chances.
Matty Sharp (midfield, captain) was in fine form and won everything in the air and controlled the central midfield area throughout. He was ably assisted by Ethan Ayre and Daniel Brewis (midfield) in the first half and Kieron Smith and Finan Peach (midfield replacements) in the second.
Connor Sherriff (striker) was back to his best form and scored the winning goal in the first half, after breaking clear of the Burradon defence from a throw in on the right. He sent an unstoppable shot over the head of the approaching keeper, which dropped just under the bar to give the Under 8s the crucial breakthrough.
Matty Sharp was awarded ‘man of the match’ for his excellent display in midfield and special praise was given to Jack Stronach for his defensive display. However, congratulations go to the whole squad for their collective efforts on the night.
